My Choices: May

This month, my condolences go out to Korea, both the north and south, who are in war... I wish I knew how to help solve this problem, but I don't... All I can do is send my condolences an a little inspiration...

Don't Underestimate the Underdogs

Every once in a while, there may be something you want to do that means a lot to you or something you want because it brings you calm and serenity. At times like this, you might have something happen to keep you from doing so, or having, like a lack of money, or a disability, or maybe a vacation or trip your going on. It's up to you to ask for help to do this thing or earn it, and it's up to those who care to help you with that goal. I'm sorry to say, that these people won't always help you, yes they may have good reasons to not help you, but other times they don't. It's those people who don't have a good reason and judge not to help based on something completly worthless that I am ashamed to think of. I experienced this very same thing first hand, I'm sure he knows who he is. I had come to him for help on something very dear and close to me, but he turned me away based on my age and grade! Not only that, he did not inform me of information that could have solved this problem! Keeping secrets about something or someone important to you is wrong!
Unless you know who they are and what they are like, you have no reson to judge them, even then you shouldn't actually judge a person! To those of you who do this, take some time, and think of how many people you could have helped with their problem... If you can't see what you're doing to other people, how are they supposed to know what you'll do?

Everything is okay...

Now everyone knows of suicide. Some of you might even be trying to commit suicide. I have to say this though, if you're young and in school, it not worth it to end your life. Some people may say that you should, or say that they wish you would, but they don't mean it! The human language is complicated, words with so many meanings, filled with different emotions. Don't worry about what they say! I know a guy who has been bet on, called names, an so much more ask me to kill him. He knows who he is, he might even have read this post. If you're reading this at the moment though, THEY DON'T MEAN IT! It's not worth it! There are so many things to live for, don't throw it all away... There are nice people in the world, yes, they may tease you, but that's why they're your friends. Commuting suicide at a young age is horrible, you can live in a lap of luxury and not be happy. Think of what could happen, everything will get better, it may be rough, it may take a while, but things get better... I get what you feel though, I once thought of suicide myself, but I realized what it would do to all my friends and family, ever since then, I've been lookin up an helping those I can, and now I'm living a happy life. So please take my advice, find something of worth in your life and hold onto it! Please... People do care about you...

Reader thoughts: Veronica

Thank you Veroica for sending me your thoughts on bullying.

Bullying its a major problem. I have dealt with it a lot, and what is weird is that people only take action when something big happens. It's like someone has to die for there to be any action taken ,otherwise it's forgotten, not talked about with kids, or anyone for that matter. I think people  just talk about whether someone has committed suicide or not. Is that all people care about?
Like, they think that bullying just stops until someone does commit suicid. No, it never stops. Maybe for a few seconds when your giving a lecture or an assembly about bullying and something that has recently happened at your school, but bullying is still happening somewhere else in the world. Not caring, not thinking about what they are doing, no remorse for their actions, just doing the act of bullying.
Maybe instead of just punishing bullies, we should take better care of them. What if at home something is wrong? Like what if they're getting beat, or being called a mistake, or sexually harassed? Then what? Calling their parents and saying so and so did this, do they think thats going to help? Or are they just taking action, (fake action), to make it look like they care for the kids on both sides. The bullies, and the bullied.

Thank you Veronica for your exellent point on the matter. I hope everyone who reads this will think about what goes on in peoples lives.

Bullying is more than a school problem!

What people don't know, is bullying is a bigger problem than they take it for. People don't realise that, todays kids, could be tomorrows criminals. What if the next president was bullied? If it was bad enough, they might do something cruel towards another country. That could start, yet, another war! Miedival times. The social classes consist of the king, the nobles, the lesser knights, and the serfs/ peasents. The peasents were considered to be at the bottom of the social classes. Even before bullying was invented, it was around!! Christianity. When it came into the world, they put up lie after lie about anyone that wasn't christian!! People were burned and killed for being part of a different religion, mostly women and children!! Do you really wan't this to happen again! I don't think so!
Apparantly, if there was a giant solar flare that came in our direction, it could knock out our electricity on the entire planet for months, maybe years!! The whole world would be in chaos! Friends against friends, family against family, cannibalism could become the most well known path of survival!! There's that, or, we could have peace, and instead of chaos, we could help each other thrive. Bullying may not seem like a big problem, but if we can stoop bullying, we can solve world hunger and stop wars! So, yea, it is a big deal! Help stop it, wether you're old or young, you can help!

First reader story: My Life Story - Ivy

Thank you to Ivy for sending me her story to share with you, people of the world. Said in her own words, here is Ivy's story.

Now it all started on my first day of kindergarten. I was really nice to everyone but all the girls hated me, but at that age i didn't notice. Kindergarten was awesome exept the day all the girls/boys from grade3-5 shouted poison ivy everyday. Then one day my sister had a music practice, I don't know, but I was waiting for her becauseI had to walk home with her. Again all the boys and girls came up and started throwing pinecones at me, they didn't aim for the face so there was no bruises but it still hurt. :GRADE ONE, I didn't mind it but it was a lot more work, and I started to notice I had sensitive ears, (kids breathing at circle time=death no kidding!!!!).
Grade two I don't really remember but GRADE 3/2 BULLYING STARTED, besides the incident in kindergarten. First they started with name calling, they called me stupid, dumb, poison ivy, etc. Grade 4, no friends at all, I was all alone to rot away. Then a girl named Morgan came and I made sure I made her my friend in a flash and were still friends to this day. Grade 5 was okay. The bully was definitely still there, so just a normal year for me, but I started to play a game called zombie tag and someone that I played it with, (lets call him the nicest guy eva for short), NGE. Now NGE and I started to be almost a group in zombie tag, then a few people fell and got hurt so it was banned. But in the timespan NGE and I played, he sang to me. (?) I don't know why, but he sang Don't you forget about me from the breakfast club, and I knew it so, I sang it with him. It was the best moment at my old school ever.
In that year I thought about suicide and not living. I hated my life and didn't want to live, so I moved schools and now in grade 6 I'm at a new school and I'm happy my friends are Dane, my 4 friends named Meagan, Morgan, and Kyra. That's my story.

Thank you Ivy, for giving me this story, and if anyone else has a story to share, please, send it to me. You can find my email on the readers info page, and the choice of being nameless is yours. Please, help the world learn. Thank you.
