Don't Underestimate the Underdogs

Every once in a while, there may be something you want to do that means a lot to you or something you want because it brings you calm and serenity. At times like this, you might have something happen to keep you from doing so, or having, like a lack of money, or a disability, or maybe a vacation or trip your going on. It's up to you to ask for help to do this thing or earn it, and it's up to those who care to help you with that goal. I'm sorry to say, that these people won't always help you, yes they may have good reasons to not help you, but other times they don't. It's those people who don't have a good reason and judge not to help based on something completly worthless that I am ashamed to think of. I experienced this very same thing first hand, I'm sure he knows who he is. I had come to him for help on something very dear and close to me, but he turned me away based on my age and grade! Not only that, he did not inform me of information that could have solved this problem! Keeping secrets about something or someone important to you is wrong!
Unless you know who they are and what they are like, you have no reson to judge them, even then you shouldn't actually judge a person! To those of you who do this, take some time, and think of how many people you could have helped with their problem... If you can't see what you're doing to other people, how are they supposed to know what you'll do?

Everything is okay...

Now everyone knows of suicide. Some of you might even be trying to commit suicide. I have to say this though, if you're young and in school, it not worth it to end your life. Some people may say that you should, or say that they wish you would, but they don't mean it! The human language is complicated, words with so many meanings, filled with different emotions. Don't worry about what they say! I know a guy who has been bet on, called names, an so much more ask me to kill him. He knows who he is, he might even have read this post. If you're reading this at the moment though, THEY DON'T MEAN IT! It's not worth it! There are so many things to live for, don't throw it all away... There are nice people in the world, yes, they may tease you, but that's why they're your friends. Commuting suicide at a young age is horrible, you can live in a lap of luxury and not be happy. Think of what could happen, everything will get better, it may be rough, it may take a while, but things get better... I get what you feel though, I once thought of suicide myself, but I realized what it would do to all my friends and family, ever since then, I've been lookin up an helping those I can, and now I'm living a happy life. So please take my advice, find something of worth in your life and hold onto it! Please... People do care about you...

Reader thoughts: Veronica

Thank you Veroica for sending me your thoughts on bullying.

Bullying its a major problem. I have dealt with it a lot, and what is weird is that people only take action when something big happens. It's like someone has to die for there to be any action taken ,otherwise it's forgotten, not talked about with kids, or anyone for that matter. I think people  just talk about whether someone has committed suicide or not. Is that all people care about?
Like, they think that bullying just stops until someone does commit suicid. No, it never stops. Maybe for a few seconds when your giving a lecture or an assembly about bullying and something that has recently happened at your school, but bullying is still happening somewhere else in the world. Not caring, not thinking about what they are doing, no remorse for their actions, just doing the act of bullying.
Maybe instead of just punishing bullies, we should take better care of them. What if at home something is wrong? Like what if they're getting beat, or being called a mistake, or sexually harassed? Then what? Calling their parents and saying so and so did this, do they think thats going to help? Or are they just taking action, (fake action), to make it look like they care for the kids on both sides. The bullies, and the bullied.

Thank you Veronica for your exellent point on the matter. I hope everyone who reads this will think about what goes on in peoples lives.

Bullying is more than a school problem!

What people don't know, is bullying is a bigger problem than they take it for. People don't realise that, todays kids, could be tomorrows criminals. What if the next president was bullied? If it was bad enough, they might do something cruel towards another country. That could start, yet, another war! Miedival times. The social classes consist of the king, the nobles, the lesser knights, and the serfs/ peasents. The peasents were considered to be at the bottom of the social classes. Even before bullying was invented, it was around!! Christianity. When it came into the world, they put up lie after lie about anyone that wasn't christian!! People were burned and killed for being part of a different religion, mostly women and children!! Do you really wan't this to happen again! I don't think so!
Apparantly, if there was a giant solar flare that came in our direction, it could knock out our electricity on the entire planet for months, maybe years!! The whole world would be in chaos! Friends against friends, family against family, cannibalism could become the most well known path of survival!! There's that, or, we could have peace, and instead of chaos, we could help each other thrive. Bullying may not seem like a big problem, but if we can stoop bullying, we can solve world hunger and stop wars! So, yea, it is a big deal! Help stop it, wether you're old or young, you can help!

First reader story: My Life Story - Ivy

Thank you to Ivy for sending me her story to share with you, people of the world. Said in her own words, here is Ivy's story.

Now it all started on my first day of kindergarten. I was really nice to everyone but all the girls hated me, but at that age i didn't notice. Kindergarten was awesome exept the day all the girls/boys from grade3-5 shouted poison ivy everyday. Then one day my sister had a music practice, I don't know, but I was waiting for her becauseI had to walk home with her. Again all the boys and girls came up and started throwing pinecones at me, they didn't aim for the face so there was no bruises but it still hurt. :GRADE ONE, I didn't mind it but it was a lot more work, and I started to notice I had sensitive ears, (kids breathing at circle time=death no kidding!!!!).
Grade two I don't really remember but GRADE 3/2 BULLYING STARTED, besides the incident in kindergarten. First they started with name calling, they called me stupid, dumb, poison ivy, etc. Grade 4, no friends at all, I was all alone to rot away. Then a girl named Morgan came and I made sure I made her my friend in a flash and were still friends to this day. Grade 5 was okay. The bully was definitely still there, so just a normal year for me, but I started to play a game called zombie tag and someone that I played it with, (lets call him the nicest guy eva for short), NGE. Now NGE and I started to be almost a group in zombie tag, then a few people fell and got hurt so it was banned. But in the timespan NGE and I played, he sang to me. (?) I don't know why, but he sang Don't you forget about me from the breakfast club, and I knew it so, I sang it with him. It was the best moment at my old school ever.
In that year I thought about suicide and not living. I hated my life and didn't want to live, so I moved schools and now in grade 6 I'm at a new school and I'm happy my friends are Dane, my 4 friends named Meagan, Morgan, and Kyra. That's my story.

Thank you Ivy, for giving me this story, and if anyone else has a story to share, please, send it to me. You can find my email on the readers info page, and the choice of being nameless is yours. Please, help the world learn. Thank you.

"'Murica, home of the ongoing battle"

In case you didn't know, in, "Murica", there is an ongoing fight with and against gay marriage. I'm Canadian, and understand that, yes, gay marriage can seem... Different. Being straight, I can't imagine what it's like to be oppressed like that! I may not be American, but I'm sure that some of you are. Some say gay marriage is wrong, I respect your opinion, but now I ask that you respect people for who they are. Equality is possible, do you not want that? I have a few bi friends, an it would b horrible living in America where thy can't get married at the moment. One  of them is not doing too well as is. Cutting and attempting suicide, you can't take away love from her! She may not have found her "1", but if he does and can't marry them... What does she have to live for? So, yes, I am full  on supporting gay marriage. What is it Americans stand for? Freedom?  Then stop oppressing love! Do the world a favor, be good guys and gals, help the dream of so many become reality...

Family Day

Here in Canada, we have a holiday called, Family Day. So it's time to enjoy your family on this monday. Yet, for some people, family holds them back. Maybe you are different, maybe, you are sucked in, but people know you could have so much more potential! Some people dont have a family. Any of these reasons could be just another thing for a bully to tease and taunt you about, but more than likely, these reasons are why they are a bully. I know how it feels to not belong in your family. It makes you want to cry some times, and break some glass the others. I like to write to vent my anger, but others might not have anything to vent their anger out on, at least, until they can find something "wrong' with someone else. They like to make others feel bad so they dont seem so bad in compared circumstances. I'm no psychologist, but anger makes people do things they normally wouldn't do. Yes, I feel bad for the victim, but doesn't mean I don't feel kinda sorry for the person who's causing all the trouble. I mean, if they were your friend, wouldn't you try to comfort them? yet, since they act the way they do, they probably don't have any true friends who they can trust. It's kind of sad... These people will most likely sit at home or be taken to something they mortally hate! If it were me, I would try and ask them if they were actually doing anything for Family Day, if they say no, I might suggest a good movie for them to watch, or maybe a restuarant that they could suggest to their family to eat at. Anyways, I hope you see my point. Be kind and fair to the bullies who dont have anyone. Who knows? Maybe, they might become your friend and change. For the better of themselves, and everyone else around them.

My Choices: January-2013

Hey guys! Since its now 2013, my theme is new beginnings... Also, I'm disappointed I haven't gotten emails, so please try. Well here you are!

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

There you are! So please send me suggestions for next month, and I'll try to get a link put on the home page, k thanks!

A New Year, A New Perspective...

For this month, I'm going to try a new perspective on things. Instead of trying to get to understand the bullied...  I'm going to try and understand, the bullies... The first thing I understand, is how it feels. Yes... At one point in my life, I sank to their level, or should I say, your level. I was in control, I had power over the people. I made enemies, and overcame them. I was feared, and hated. It was great. I never worried, I owned my life! But for what purpose? Yes you hear people say, it's because they were bullied, wanted control, had to be center of attention and blah, blah, blah... Yes, it's true, but they don't give you full understanding do they??? Well, my reason, was that I was sick, and tired of being bullied. For once, I wanted to have complete control of my life, and not have to worry about everyone making fun of me... Yet, it wasn't worth it. They ended up figuring me out, and I resulted to threats, some empty, others not. The names got worse, I had brought to much unwanted attention to myself. They knew I wasn't a fast thinker, and that I couldn't come up with any defense fast enough. So by the end of the grade, I was beaten... It was grade seven for me... In grade in grade eight, me and my friends compared my school photos for grade six and seven, both were bad... In grade six, I was innocent, pretty, and had a certain twinkle in my eye, and you could see I was happy. Then we looked at my grade seven photo... I had circles under my eyes from less sleep, bags from stress, I slumped forward, a fake smile on my face, and I had a dull look in my eyes... I'm really glad I stopped...  Eventually, I realized that it didn't matter who I was... I was just easy to get to, so I stopped trying to be someone else, and walked with my head high. I wouldn't deny who I was, but I wouldn't let them tease me either. I stood up for myself, yes, I still had bad habits of throwing some empty threats when I felt necessary, but I became closer to my friends... Now I hope you realize it's not always the true nature of ones self when they're a bully, but more of a reason tht only makes sense to themselves... Happy new year, and I hope you guys stay with me...
